GPU Upgrade and Graphics Card Replacement in Toronto

A new graphics card is the fastest way to get more out of a gaming or creative PC, if it fits and your power supply can feed it. We check that first, then install and test it.

Fit and power checked first · Drivers set up · Quoted upfront

Graphics cards are the most common upgrade on a desktop gaming PC, and also the one most often bought wrong. The card has to physically fit the case, the power supply has to deliver enough wattage with the right connectors, and the processor shouldn't hold the card back so much that you pay for performance you never see.

We look at your actual PC before you spend: power supply, case clearance, motherboard slot and processor. Then we fit the card, clean out the old drivers, install the new ones and test it under load, so you aren't left with a black screen or a card running well below its speed.

What we handle

When a GPU Upgrade or Replacement Makes Sense

Games run poorly or at low settings

A newer card is usually the biggest single gain for frame rates, if the rest of the PC isn't the limit.

Video editing or 3D work is slow

Rendering and effects run noticeably faster on a card with more power and video memory.

Artifacts, crashes or a black screen

Flickering colours, driver crashes under load or no display can point to a failing card. We test it first rather than assume.

Card is loud or overheating

Sometimes cleaning or repasting is enough; sometimes the cooler has failed and replacement is cheaper.

New card not detected

Missing power connectors, wrong slot, outdated BIOS or leftover drivers. All fixable once found.

Upgrading an older office PC for gaming

Many office PCs have small power supplies and cramped cases. We tell you honestly whether a card will work or what else would need changing.

Before you buy

Will a New Graphics Card Fit and Run Properly?

Three things decide it: size (card length and thickness against your case), power (the supply's total wattage and the right 6, 8 or 12-pin connectors), and balance (a very old processor can bottleneck a modern card). Prebuilt PCs from Dell, HP and Lenovo often use smaller or proprietary power supplies, so they need checking more carefully.

Send us the PC's model, or what's inside it, and the card you're considering. We'll say whether it works as is, what else it needs, or whether a different card suits it better.

Laptops

What About Laptop Graphics?

In almost every laptop the graphics chip is soldered to the motherboard, so it can't be swapped like a desktop card. If a laptop's graphics has failed, the options are usually a board replacement, a different machine, or an external setup, and the cost often rivals the laptop's value.

We'll diagnose it, tell you plainly which of those makes sense and what it costs, and sort out the cooling and driver faults that mimic a dead GPU first, since those are far cheaper to fix.

How it works

From First Message to Fixed

  1. Step 1: Tell us the PC and the card

Send the PC model or parts list and the card you have in mind. A photo of the inside helps.

  2. Step 2: Compatibility and power check

We confirm fit, power connectors and wattage, and quote the work before anything is bought or installed.

  3. Step 3: Install, drivers, load test

We fit the card, install clean drivers and test under load, checking temperatures and stability before it comes back.

Common questions

GPU Upgrade & Graphics Card Installation FAQs

How much does graphics card installation cost?

Installation is quoted upfront once we know your PC and the card, and there's no charge for the compatibility check. The card itself is priced by the retailer.

Do I need a new power supply for a new GPU?

Sometimes. Higher-end cards need more wattage and specific connectors. We check your power supply before you buy and tell you if it needs replacing.

Will the new graphics card fit in my PC?

Check the card's length and thickness against your case, and that the slot is free. Compact prebuilt PCs are the usual problem. Send the model and we'll confirm.

Can you replace the graphics card in my laptop?

Almost never, because laptop graphics are soldered to the board. We diagnose the problem and tell you whether a board repair is realistic or not, and we rule out cooling and driver faults first.

My PC shows a black screen after installing a new GPU. What now?

Common causes are the monitor cable plugged into the motherboard instead of the card, a missing power connector, or a card that isn't seated fully. If those are fine, bring it in and we'll find the fault.

Can you tell if my graphics card is dying?

Yes. We test it under load, check temperatures and look for artifacts and crashes, and rule out the power supply and drivers. If it's the card, you'll know before buying a replacement.

Is it worth upgrading the GPU in an older PC?

Often, if the processor and power supply can keep up. If they can't, a different upgrade or a new build is better value, and we'll tell you honestly.

Do you serve the whole GTA?

Yes. Our workshop is in North York and works by appointment. Drop your PC off, or arrange pickup from anywhere in the GTA, charged by location and confirmed before booking.
