Free inspection · Labour from $40 + panel · Quote before any part is ordered

A Dell screen replacement is one of the repairs we are asked for most. Dell laptops are common in Toronto, from Inspiron and Vostro for home and school to Latitude for the office, XPS for creators and G-series for gaming. Each has its own panel, and some XPS models use high-resolution or OLED screens that cost more. Knowing the exact model is what makes the repair quick and avoids a wrong part.

We are an independent Toronto repair service, not a Dell service centre. If your laptop is still under Dell's warranty or an accidental-damage plan, use them first so you keep that cover. For out-of-warranty laptops we are usually quicker and cheaper, with a free inspection and a firm quote before any work.

What we handle

Dell Screen Problems We Fix

Cracked or smashed screen

Impact damage, a lid closed on a pen or cable, or pressure in a bag. A cracked panel always needs replacing, and we check the lid and hinges for damage while it is open.

Black screen but the laptop is on

Fans spin and lights come on, but nothing shows, or the picture is only faintly visible under a torch. This can be a failed backlight, a loose display cable or a graphics fault, so we test on an external monitor first.

Vertical or horizontal lines

Coloured or white lines, bands and blocks across the screen. Often the panel or its cable, and sometimes only visible when the lid is moved.

Flickering or flashing

Flicker that changes as you open or close the lid points to the display cable or hinge. Flicker that does not usually points to the panel or backlight.

Dark patches, spots or pressure marks

Bleeding, bright or dark blotches and spreading dead pixels, usually from pressure on a closed lid or a slow internal crack.

Touchscreen not responding

Touch that is missing, ghosting or random on 2-in-1 and touch models. We confirm whether it is the touch layer, the cable or software before replacing anything.

Loose screen, cracked lid or broken hinge

Inspiron and Vostro lids can crack at the hinge, which pulls on the screen. If the back cover, bezel or hinge mounts are damaged, we repair or replace them with the screen so the new panel is not stressed.

Dim screen or very low brightness

A screen that is only readable at an angle can be a dying backlight. We check the settings and driver first, then the panel.

Replacement options

What Are Your Options for a Dell Screen?

Panel only: the most common repair. The cracked panel is replaced and the lid, bezel and hinges are reused. It costs the least and works for most laptops.

Full lid assembly: when the back cover, bezel, hinges or webcam housing are also damaged, replacing the whole lid assembly can be faster and more reliable than replacing the panel alone. We quote both when the lid is damaged.

Different panel type: on some models the screen can be upgraded, for example from HD to Full HD, but only if the connector and cable are compatible. We tell you before ordering. Touch and non-touch panels use different cables, so a touch screen cannot simply be swapped for a non-touch one.

No repair: if the laptop is not worth repairing, an external monitor can keep it useful as a desk machine. We say so honestly when the repair does not make sense.

Finding the right part

How We Match the Correct Dell Panel

The right panel depends on your exact model, not just the series: screen size, resolution, connector (30-pin or 40-pin), touch or non-touch, and refresh rate must all match. A wrong part is the most common reason screen repairs fail.

Send the full model name or the serial number sticker from the bottom of the laptop, plus a photo of the damage. We confirm the panel, its price and the turnaround, and you approve the quote before we order it.

By series

Dell Screen Replacement by Series

Inspiron and Vostro: the most common Dell screens we replace. Most use standard HD or Full HD panels, and some have touch. Lids can crack near the hinges, so we check the casing too.

Latitude: business laptops with a range of HD, Full HD and touch panels. Panel options depend on the year and model, so the exact model number matters.

XPS: thin bezels and high-resolution panels, including 4K and OLED on some models. These parts cost more, and we tell you the price and the alternatives before ordering.

G-series gaming laptops: Full HD panels with high refresh rates. We match the refresh rate so the new screen performs like the old one.

Before you bring it in

What to Do With a Damaged Screen

Stop using the laptop if the glass is cracked. Shards can scratch the keyboard and fingers, and pressing on a cracked panel can spread the damage. Do not press on black patches or try to push it back into place.

Back up what you can first. A cracked screen does not harm your files, and we do not erase anything during a screen repair. If you cannot see anything, plug in an external monitor to copy your files, or tell us and we can help.

Common questions

Dell Laptop Screen Replacement FAQs

How much does a Dell laptop screen replacement cost in Toronto?

Labour starts at $40, plus the panel. A standard HD panel is usually $70 to $130, and Full HD, touchscreen or high-refresh panels are usually $130 to $250. That puts most repairs at about $110 to $290 in total. The inspection is free and you approve the exact price before we order anything.

Can you replace the screen on my Dell XPS?

Yes, we replace screens on Dell XPS, Inspiron and other series. Send the model number and a photo of the damage on WhatsApp and we will confirm the panel and price.

How do I find the right screen for my Dell laptop?

You need the exact model, not just the series. Check the sticker on the bottom of the laptop for the model name or number, or send a photo. We match the size, resolution, connector, touch and refresh rate for you.

How long does a Dell screen replacement take?

Once the correct panel is in hand the replacement is usually one to two business days. Most panels are ordered for your exact model, so we give the expected turnaround with the quote.

My Dell screen is black but the laptop turns on. Is it the screen?

Not always. A black screen can be the backlight, the display cable or a graphics fault. We connect an external monitor first. If that picture is fine, the problem is the panel or its cable; if not, it is graphics or the motherboard. You pay only for what is actually wrong.

Will I lose my files?

No. A screen replacement does not touch your drive or your files. We do not erase or reset anything during the repair.

Is it worth replacing the screen, or should I buy a new laptop?

If the rest of the laptop works well and is less than about six years old, a new screen is almost always cheaper than a replacement. If it is older, slow or has other faults, we tell you honestly when the money is better spent on a new machine.

Do you replace the screen on a Dell XPS?

Yes. XPS panels vary a lot, from Full HD to 4K and OLED, and the price depends on which one your laptop has. We confirm the exact panel from the model number and quote before ordering.

Can you fix a Dell Latitude or Inspiron screen?

Yes, both are common repairs. Send the model number and a photo and we will confirm the panel and price.

Dell Screen Cracked or Not Working?

Send the model number and a photo on WhatsApp. We will reply with the panel and a firm price before you commit.
